Walking for Health
Tue 8th 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Tuesday, repeating indefinitely
Walking for Health is run by Waverley from Cranleigh Leisure Centre.
The walk leaders are volunteers who have all completed a course run by Ramblers and MacMillan.
The walks start from Cranleigh Leisure Centre and usually last for 30 – 90 minutes although may be longer if that is appropriate for the needs of walkers.
Meet at Cranleigh Leisure Centre every Tuesday at 11.00 a.m.
The programme of walks may interest those who would like to improve their fitness, are recovering from illness, or would like to lose weight. You do not have to be super fit to join!
Cranleigh Medical Practice will be referring their patients to this walk.
Tea and coffee are available at the end of every walk (payable at the time).
We walk to the slowest and have rests in between. (One of our walkers brings his stool and we wait for him to have a rest when he needs it).
We do find that people build up quite quickly. Our longest walk is an hour and a half but we can tailor the walk to what someone feels they can do as we have a number of walk leaders.
Everyone is welcome and you might see parts of the beautiful Cranleigh countryside that you haven’t seen before! The walks also have a social aspect to them which people enjoy.
We can have coffee and tea in the Leisure Centre at a reduced rate afterwards.
We also sometimes arrange special walks to other places and have lunch together afterwards.
